Our Sacred Mission:
We, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, are called to become,
attract, and form intentional disciples who joyfully, generously, and lovingly proclaim and live
the mission of Jesus Christ, leading to eternal life.
The Children’s Faith Formation and Youth ministry programs at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is dedicated in supporting it’s mission of forming intentional disciples. Our program strives for excellence in faith formation at every age level. To accomplish this, we must work together to cultivate a truly Christ centered learning environment. The child, parent, catechist, and priest are each an integral part to the success of an individual’s faith formation and spiritual growth. To achieve our goal of forming intentional disciples, each person involved must know what is expected of them.
Jesus gave us the two greatest commandments; we shall love God with all our heart, mind, and soul and to love our neighbor as our self. These two commandments are to guide all our thoughts and actions so that we may live a life that reflects the teachings of Jesus Christ.
“You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.” ~Matthew 22:37
We show our love for God by attending Mass on Sunday & Holy Days of Obligation. We lead a sacramental life, frequently receiving the Eucharist and the Rite of Reconciliation.
We exhibit behavior that honors God and helps others honor God, especially during Mass and times of prayer. We are slow to anger, show love and forgiveness, and use kind words.
We shall love our Lord with all our mind by actively growing in our knowledge of our Catholic faith. We participate and cooperate in class and have regular attendance.
We show our love for God by taking care of his creation and the blessings He has given us. This includes respecting and taking care Church property, both inside and outside the classroom. It also includes being good stewards of the materials we utilize in class and not wasting them.
“You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” ~Matthew 22:39
“Love is patient, love is kind, It is not jealous, love is not pompous, it is not inflated, it is not rude, it does not seek its own interests, it is not quick tempered, it does not brood over injury, it does not rejoice over wrong doing but rejoices in the truth.” ~1 Corinthians 13:4-6
We show others love by treating them with the same respect and kindness that we would like to be given. We listen when asked and share our ideas and thoughts in a manner that reflects our love for God and others.
We cooperate with those in authority and our peers. We refrain from being disrespectful and disruptive because that is how we want to be treated. We use language that is appropriate and shows our love for others as ourselves.
Gesture, jokes, pictures, and statements which are sexually insulting to God’s creation, including inappropriate dress, will not be tolerated.
“If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete.” ~John 15:10-11
Consequences for Unacceptable Behavior:
• For the first incident, the catechist will give a verbal redirection to the child.
• If the behavior continues, the child may be isolated within the classroom from his or her peers.
• If the child refuses to correct the behavior, he or she will meet with the director of children’s faith formation or the director of youth ministry and the parents will be notified of said meeting.
• If the behavior continues for multiple sessions (three or more) the parent to guardian will be required to attend all classes with the child for the remainder of the school year.
By checking this box, I acknowledge that I have read in completion with my child the behavior policy set forth by St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. By checking this box, I also signify that my child agrees to adhere to the policy while participating in any activity connected to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
By checking this box and writing my name below I understand and will adhere to the conditions above.
